COLLAGEN-INDUCTION THERAPY
Microneedling, often referred to as collagen induction therapy, is a minimally invasive cosmetic procedure that triggers collagen synthesis to address various skin issues. This method involves using tiny, sterilized needles to generate micro-perforations in the skin. At Soul, we have two microneedling devices: SkinPen and Genius RF. These devices can be used alone or combined with our LaseMD Ultra device for optimal collagen-induction.
SkinPen Microneedling
The SkinPen is an FDA-approved device with multiple tiny needles that puncture the skin to create controlled micro-injuries. This stimulates your body’s natural wound-healing process, which creates new collagen production while minimizing cellular damage. The result is effective remodeling of new skin, causing smoother texture and improving fine lines and wrinkles. It also improves acne scarring, stretch marks, skin laxity, and hyperpigmentation.
Downtime & Results
For the first 24-48 hours after microneedling, the skin may appear pink to red and have a slight sunburn feeling. We recommend not wearing makeup and avoiding vigorous exercise for 24-48 hours post-treatment. While healing, patients may experience dryness, tightness, itching, peeling, tenderness, and burning for a few days to a week.
Up to three sessions may be recommended for optimal results.
Genius RF
Genius® RF Skin Tightening combines the benefits of microneedling with radiofrequency energy to treat the deepest layers of the skin to stimulate collagen and elastin to tighten skin, improve skin texture, and soften wrinkles. There are many Microneedling + RF devices on the market, such as Morpheus 8, Profound RF and Secret RF. We chose the Genius technology because of it’s advanced energy delivery mechanism. This device measures the tissue’s depth and density to precisely deliver the correct amount of energy at the correct depths, making it more effective and safer than competing technologies. Genius® RF Skin Tightening uses ultrafine needles to penetrate the skin’s surface to create controlled micro-wounds. Radiofrequency heat follows these channels to stimulate the deepest layers of the skin precisely and consistently. Unlike other ablative treatments that compromise the outermost layers of the skin, Genius® RF leaves the epidermis intact for faster healing and can be repeated every four to six weeks for optimal results. Treatments are customized for age, skin type, sun exposure, area of the body, tissue thickness, and depth.
We combine this treatment with our LaseMD Ultra device to ensure the most effective anti-aging results. We call this comprehensive duo the TotalSkin Soulution and is our proprietary skin treatment for targeting skin laxity due to aging.
Downtime & Results
Immediately after treatment, the skin will appear slightly pink to red, like a moderate sunburn. There may be some mild pinpoint bleeding. Some patients experience dryness, tightness, itching, peeling, mild tenderness, and burning after treatment. These side effects only last a few days to a week and should resolve without complication. Makeup and exercise should be avoided 24-48 hours following treatment. Post-care instructions and skincare products to use following the procedure will be provided at your appointment.
