THREAD Lift Treatment
During the aging process, we naturally lose fat and skin elasticity throughout our face. This causes sagging and wrinkles around the eyes, cheeks, jowls, and neck. A thread lift is a non-surgical treatment where dissolvable threads are placed into the skin to stimulate natural collagen production, resulting in tightened and lifted skin. Depending on the brand, threads are made from suture materials and are categorized based on shape, size, length, and thickness. Depending on your unique facial anatomy, a mixture of threads may be used throughout the face for the best results.
Types of Threads
PDO Threads
PDO Threads, made with polydioxanone (PDO) sutures, work by triggering fibroblast cells to stimulate collagen in the skin. There are two types of PDO threads that serve different purposes: PDO mono threads and PDO barbed threads. Before treating, our providers assess the face globally and map out how many and where each type of PDO thread needs to be placed to ensure the best results. After treatment, PDO threads take about six months to break down in the skin, although this can vary depending on the patient’s metabolic rate.
Silhouette Instalift
Silhouette Instalift threads, made with polyglycolic acid (PGA) and poly-L-lactic acid (PLA or PLLA) sutures, use Micro-Suspension Technology™ to lift and stimulate collagen production to help restore volume loss throughout the face. These threads use micro cones for an immediate lift and come in three sizes, used depending on the are being treated. Typically, Silhouette Instalift threads take 12-15 months to dissolve in the skin, although this can vary depending on the patient’s metabolic rate.
Downtime and Results
Patients often experience temporary bruising, swelling, and soreness for one to two weeks post-treatment. It’s recommended to sleep on your back, avoid touching your face, and be gentle around the treatment site until fully healed. Additional post-care instructions will be reviewed by your provider at your treatment.
